About

A family scheme, rebuilt.

Storygram started with a reading scheme that worked in one family in 1990: a chart on the wall, a little ceremony when a book was finished, and a parent who noticed. We're rebuilding that for households where reading has to compete with everything else in the house.

Reading for pleasure is one of the strongest signals of how a child gets on, at school and beyond, and it's in decline, for adults as much as children. We're not interested in making books more like apps. We're interested in making reading happen at all, for the whole household: motivation, consistency, books a person might actually like, and someone who notices when they finish one. We've started with children of six to twelve, because that's where the habit is made. Grown-up reading comes next, with Odyssey.

Who's behind it

Graham Ormiston, with Archie the dog on his lap

Graham Ormiston, founder

Graham founded Storygram in January 2025 and builds Quest and Buy Me Books himself, which means the person answering your email is the same person who wrote the code. The idea started with his own family's reading chart in 1990 and the simple ceremony of a book being finished and noticed. Before Storygram he spent years making and running things for broadcasters and small companies. He writes Footnotes. The dog is Archie.

Storygram Ltd is a small, independent company registered in England and Wales (company number 16176524). The pixel-art heroes and worlds are drawn for Storygram, and the books in Quest are chosen by hand.

We don't run advertising, we don't sell data, and children never have accounts of their own. If you'd like to talk, whether you're a parent, a teacher, a librarian or a publisher, we're at hello@storygram.org.
